LOGOS — Start Here: What It Is and Why It's Central to Everything

LOGOS is the knowledge and communication system at the center of the NEXUS framework. It is simultaneously the concept and the software — the seeking, accumulating, reasoning layer that serves humans and AI simultaneously from the same living record.

The name is deliberate. In Greek philosophy LOGOS means the word that carries meaning, the rational principle that governs and connects, the organizing intelligence that makes things coherent and knowable. That is precisely what this system does.

What LOGOS Is

LOGOS is simultaneously many things without contradiction:

A forum — threaded discussions, typed topics, voting, moderation, community.

A knowledge base — wiki posts with full revision history, diff comparison, and revert capability. The source of truth for specs, decisions, and accumulated understanding.

A helpdesk — issue tracking, feature requests, and support threads for every app in the ecosystem.

A planning and design space — where specs are written, event models are discussed, and paths through systems are mapped before a line of code is written.

A communication network — connecting developers, users, contributors, and AI systems around shared work and shared goals.

A data store — event sourced at the foundation. Every action is an immutable timestamped fact. Current state is always a projection from history. Nothing is lost.

A code generation source — typed Spec topics with workflow states that link directly to event model elements and serve as inputs to AI-assisted code generation.

An AI training corpus — everything in LOGOS feeds CORTEX, the personal AI system, making it progressively more capable and personalized through use.

A history — the reasoning behind every decision is traceable to the conversation that sparked it.

Why LOGOS

The word fabric describes what it looks like — threads woven together. LOGOS describes what it is and does. Active seeking, not just passive holding. Reasoning from accumulated knowledge. Expression — turning knowledge into meaningful output. The organizing intelligence that makes the whole system coherent.

LOGOS seeks. LOGOS accumulates. LOGOS reasons. LOGOS expresses.

The Dual Audience

LOGOS serves humans and AI simultaneously from the same data. For humans it is the gateway — where ideas spark, help is sought, wishes are explored, and plans are made. For AI systems it is the knowledge source — continuously updated, event sourced, traceable to origins. Every human interaction enriches the AI. Every AI improvement serves the humans. The loop is self-reinforcing and intentional.

Event Sourcing as the Foundation

Every post is an event. Every wiki edit is an event. Every imported conversation is an event. LOGOS is an event store in forum form. The current state of any piece of knowledge is always a projection from the history of events that shaped it — auditable, traceable, and improvable. This is not incidental. It is the design.

How It Connects to NEXUS

NEXUS describes the methodology and vision — how the system works and why. LOGOS is where that methodology lives in practice. NEXUS without LOGOS is theory. LOGOS without NEXUS is just a forum. Together they form the foundation everything else is built on.

How It Connects to CORTEX

CORTEX is the personal AI system that feeds from and contributes to LOGOS. CORTEX reads LOGOS to learn. CORTEX writes to LOGOS when it discovers. LOGOS is the shared memory that makes CORTEX increasingly capable. They are symbiotic — each makes the other more valuable through use.

The Software

LOGOS is also the name of the software being built to implement this vision permanently. It replaces Talkyard as the platform once sufficiently capable. Built using NEXUS methodology, designed in LOGOS itself, implemented in F# with event sourcing at the foundation.

Known requirements for the LOGOS software emerge from active Talkyard use — every limitation discovered becomes a concrete requirement. The requirements are living documents updated as understanding grows.

What Lives Here

This category documents LOGOS itself — its structure, integration with other systems, the tools that feed it and draw from it, and the ongoing decisions about how it is organized and used. The Chat Import Pipeline, API integration, organizational structure, and software requirements all live here as working documentation.

Current Status

LOGOS is being actively built. The forum infrastructure is in place using Talkyard as interim platform. The conversation import pipeline is being designed. The LOGOS software requirements are being gathered. CORTEX architecture is defined. Each piece added makes the whole more capable.
